The Peccadillo Theater Company revives interest in playwright George Kelly with its super production of The Show-Off. The comedy was last seen prominently in these parts 50 years ago with Helen Hayes as the besieged Mrs. Fisher. The tells-it-like-it-is woman is played now by Annette O'Toole, who has absolutely no reason to worry that she isn't up to the former First Lady of the American Theater's interpretation. Director Wackerman is—I think they saying goes—a dab hand at these wonderful American chestnuts. The cast measures up! Huffington Post
The sets are gorgeous, the costumes are gorgeous and frankly, Annette O'Toole is really, really gorgeous, too. The work of this fine company was excellent as a whole. It's really delightful! So, tell a fib or two, a harmless little white lie, steal a little time away from the rest of your busy schedules, and catch The Show-Off at the Theatre at St. Clement's! Stage Buddy
George Kelly's 1924 consistently amusing dramatic comedy shows how un-musty a 93 year-old play can be thanks to the adroitly addressed direction of Dan Wackerman and his ensemble! A feisty Annette O'Toole appears to be relishing each and all of her caustic zingers. Making an impressive Peccadillo Theater Company debut, is Ian Gould as The Show-Off a.k.a_Aubrey Piper. Kelly's snappy talk will keep a smile on your face! Curtain Up
